Job Overview
Health Innovation Wessex (HIW) offers three fixed‑term/secondment roles as Programme Manager – Innovation Adoption (one 23‑month post and two 12‑month posts). The successful candidate will lead and deliver programmes to support the adoption and scaling of innovative solutions across Wessex and beyond.
Responsibilities
* Proactively manage Innovation Adoption projects to deliver the overarching programme.
* Identify and evaluate the impact of innovative service developments and technology solutions on patient outcomes and NHS services.
* Gather data on quality improvements and efficiency savings, evaluate and advise on potential impact of system‑wide implementation.
* Develop implementation models in collaboration with stakeholders and evaluate feasibility of project implementation across partner organisations.
* Co‑ordinate key stakeholders and support the development of programmes or projects, providing direct project management as necessary.
* Work with partners to understand and agree the appropriate roles for all parties involved to ensure added value and maximum impact.
Qualifications, Training, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
* Professionally qualified or hold a relevant degree, with project management experience or equivalent.
* Master’s degree level or equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Knowledge of specialist work practices and professional guidelines relevant to HIW.
* Knowledge of NHS and local health and social service functions.
* Programme and project management experience in an NHS or care service setting or equivalent.
* Experience of integrated working across professional boundaries and multiple organisations.
* Experience of organising or managing events.
* Knowledge of issues, trends and opportunities for delivering improved health and care services in the relevant programme area.
* Experience of planning and organising the development and implementation of new initiatives within a specialist area.
* Experience of analysing and presenting project findings and engaging with partner organisations.
* Experience demonstrating influencing skills across hierarchies and disciplines through representation, negotiation and presentation activities.
* Understanding of finance and resource management.
Desirable Criteria
* Management experience.
* Project management training (e.g., PRINCE2).
* Experience of quality improvement projects and methodology.
* Experience of evaluating projects.
* Good understanding of risk management practices.
* Experience engaging managers and practitioners in project development.
* Commercially aware.
* Experience promoting findings and outcomes through media and communication channels.
* Experience managing budgets for project portfolios, monitoring budgets, and responsible for budget planning.
