TEP1501H1 F - Leadership and Leading in Groups and Organizations
Course description: This course will examine leadership in relation to technology and the engineering profession. Topics will include leadership theories, historic and current leaders, ethical leadership, teaming and networking, productivity and innovation, thinking frameworks, business leadership, and influencing people. Through this course students will explore their own leadership abilities and develop or strengthen their competencies in areas such as managing conflict, team dynamics, running effective meetings, developing others, and the creation of vision and mission statements. The course will be delivered through lectures, workshops, readings, and guest speakers.

Estimated course enrolment: Approximately 30 students
Class schedule: One 3-hour lecture per week
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025
Hours: 1 HCE (up to a maximum of 230 hrs)
Salary: CUPE minimum salary rates for a half course (HCE), inclusive of vacation pay, are: Sessional Lecturer 1 - $9,820.70; Sessional Lecturer 1 Long Term - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer 2 - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer 2 Long Term - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer 3 - $10,760.28 and Sessional Lecturer 3 Long Term - $11,013.89. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications: Needs to have:
* Extensive business and management experience
* Extensive leading experience, preferably in engineering intensive industry
* Experience teaching post graduate students
* Ability to convert to online duties if required
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in Education, Business, Engineering, or Leadership Studies; or equivalent leadership experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leadership development theory and practice. Proven track record of effective teaching and curriculum design. Understanding of engineering profession and context. Capacity to deliver experiential pedagogy.

* setting and marking assignments (if required), a project, and final examination
* timely submission of final marks
* advising students (in person and via email)
* other appropriate teaching duties related to the course
* ability to convert to online duties if required
