The Role
We are looking to recruit a technician with experience in the maintenance of all plant and equipment associated with a major distribution centre.
The Facilities Technician will be responsible in providing both a reactive and pro-active maintenance service within the FC. The role has a direct impact on the site, its productivity and operation. If equipment is not available or performs badly, it minimizes the capacity and throughput of the site.
Key Responsibilities
* To put health & safety best practices first in all work conducted, ensuring compliance with all health & safety standards and regulations.
* To perform routine maintenance and servicing on a variety of equipment and systems.
* To react quickly to breakdowns, and to communicate clearly with affected parties and to work efficiently to fix the issue.
* To conduct checks and inspections on a regular basis and test systems for safe operation.
* To provide high levels of equipment availability to our internal customers.
* Consult with contractors and suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proficient in both electrical and mechanical disciplines, with a multi-skilled approach.
* Hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining planned maintenance systems.
* Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of equipment.
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and electrical schematics.
* Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, always ensuring compliance.
* Excellent communication skills, able to effectively collaborate and convey information.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
* Proven ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
* Extensive experience in fault-finding and repairs across building systems, including HVAC, dock doors, plumbing, electrical, and general facility maintenance.
* Proficient in the use of both hand and power tools, with a solid foundation of practical skills.
* Competent in basic computer applications, ensuring smooth operation of maintenance-related software systems.
