Expleo Engineering UK is expanding its Electronics & Embedded Systems (EES) capability rapidly, so we are looking to recruit Electronics Engineers who are keen to progress their careers with a growing company and who want to help our customers make real products. The EES business unit has world class experts in the provision of real-time embedded systems, specialising in safety critical control systems. To continue to grow the business we are now looking for experienced Hardware Design Engineers to join our growing team. This opportunity is Marine working for one of the largest defence suppliers in the UK. This role is based in Rochester and you will be expected to be onsite 3 days per week, either Monday to Wednesday or Tuesday to Thursday. Applicants must be eligble for security clearance. At Expleo, our Electronics Engineers: Translate our customers‘ vision into clear and concise user, business, and product requirements Use industry standard methods to develop product architectures. Decomposing the problem into digestible functional, physical and behavioural chunks Design, Build, Commission & Debug world-class hardware solutions Build and coordinate simulations to help us to validate requirements early Work collaboratively with all our engineering teams to clarify work packages, manage case studies and resolve engineering issues In addition to project responsibility, you will play a key role in developing our electronics/hardware engineering capability more widely Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline A lower qualification would be acceptable e.g. HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or have evidence of progress towards Professional Registration with a PEI Operate effectively across project lifecycles Be Bold; Act reliable – Make a difference and challenge convention Be inquisitive - always ask ‘why?’, seek to understand the underlying principles behind all engineering problems, strive to broaden your skill set Influence - you’ll need to be able to convince stakeholders at all levels of the business Communicate - be able to articulate complex ideas and concepts verbally or in writing to anyone. Collaborate - actively build relationship across functional divides Hardware design, systems integration, test development, design for manufacture and layout experience would be desirable on Mentor design suite, DO254 or similar military spec ideally, multilayer, EMC, following formal design methodology etc Use of CAD tool such as the Siemens ® Mentor tool set or similar Requirement Definition & Management using IBM ® DOORS or similar Simulation or emulation packages such as Simetrix Design Analysis Multi-layer PCB layout Design for EMC and environmental test At least 5 years’ experience in Hardware design.
