Field Engineer – IT Hardware
Kent / Surrey / Sussex (Field-Based – Ideally Tonbridge area)
£28,000 + Company Vehicle
Do you enjoy getting out on-site and fixing issues rather than being stuck behind a desk? Are you confident working hands-on with laptops, desktops, and hardware repairs? Do you take pride in leaving a customer with a problem solved, not just logged?
We are working with a well-established technology services provider that supports a wide range of customers across the South East.
They are looking for a Field Engineer to join their Technical Services team, providing on-site support, break/fix repairs, and hardware installations across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
This is a mobile role, so being based around the Tonbridge area would be ideal to cover the region effectively.
This is a practical, hands-on position, well suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, solving problems, and working independently while still being part of a wider team.
What You Will Be Doing
* Attending customer sites to carry out break/fix repairs on laptops, desktops, and IT hardware
* Installing and de-installing equipment as required
* Diagnosing hardware issues and resolving them efficiently on-site
* Updating job details accurately before leaving each site
* Managing parts — ensuring they are labelled and returned correctly
* Staying in regular contact with the scheduling / coordination team
* Providing a professional, clear, and reassuring experience for customers
* Ensuring devices are either fully working or that clear next steps are communicated
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
* Full UK driving licence
* Previous experience in a field-based IT support or hardware repair role
* Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware (break/fix)
* Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
Desirable:
* CompTIA A+ or similar certification
* Experience with server hardware repairs
* Knowledge of server environments or infrastructure
* Relevant site certifications (e.g. CSCS card)
The Role in Practice
This is a structured field role with clear expectations around service levels and organisation.
* You will typically start your day on the road, heading to your first job
* You will manage multiple visits per day across your region
* You will be trusted to manage your time, communicate effectively, and represent the business professionally
The Type of Person Who Will Do Well Here
* Practical and hands-on — you enjoy fixing things properly
* Organised — you keep records accurate and up to date
* Reliable — you do what you say you will do
* Customer-focused — you care about the end experience, not just the task
Package
* £28,000 salary
* Company vehicle provided
* Field-based role covering Kent, Surrey, and Sussex
* Supportive team environment with clear structure and expectations
If you are currently in a field role and want something stable, structured, and customer-focused then this is well worth a conversation
