Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
About you
You’re reliable, detail-oriented, practical, and comfortable working with tools and equipment in a variety of environments, including at heights and in confined spaces. You understand the importance of health and safety procedures, especially when handling hazardous materials, and you prioritise safety for yourself, your team, and the public. You’re personable, confident in meeting new people, eager to learn, able to stay calm under pressure, and a good team player with strong prioritisation skills.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be 18+ and have a valid UK driving license.
Experience
We value attitude, curiosity, and commitment. Previous experience is helpful but not essential. Applications are welcome from diverse backgrounds, including school or college leavers or individuals seeking to retrain.
Qualifications
It’s about enthusiasm and willingness to learn. The most successful apprentices are curious, self-reflective, and eager to develop in the sector.
How the apprenticeship works
Over 21 months, you’ll devote a minimum of 6 hours per week to off-the-job training, including theory (virtual lessons and online learning) and practical training (shadowing, mentoring, and assignments). This counts toward a Level 3 Asbestos Technician apprenticeship. You’ll be trained by a Tiro tutor and an experienced mentor at 4-Rail Services Limited who will support your development. You’ll earn a salary while gaining qualifications.
Eligibility
There are government-mandated minimum requirements for eligibility. Applicants must demonstrate that the program will provide learning beyond their current qualifications and experience. If you already hold a Level 3, degree, or equivalent, or have substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding. You’ll need to be over 18, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK. If you don’t meet these requirements, express interest and we will be in touch.
