Mobile Engineer (Diesel Engines)
Location: Reading, Slough, London (M4 Corridor)
Salary: £38,000 per annum + £5,700 London Allowance (if living inside the M25) + overtime available. Additional benefits: company van, fuel card, laptop, mobile phone.
Overview
You will be joining a leading organisation specialising in power generation technology solutions for customers in the marine, construction, agricultural, rail and defence sectors. The company provides comprehensive training and values customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Perform fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines, including data download and ECU (Electronic Control Unit) familiarity.
- Conduct remote diagnostic work to obtain, evaluate and interpret data, identifying likely faults before physically examining the engine.
- Act as a product expert to ensure performance and availability of diesel engines in rolling stock.
- Carry out maintenance of mechanical and electrical components and associated control technology.
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and/or propulsion systems, and associated electronic control technology.
- NVQ3 qualification or equivalent minimum.
- Demonstrable experience in fault diagnostics, remote diagnostics and conditioning.
- Ability to work in a safety‑critical customer environment, with pre‑employment medicals and drug and alcohol checks.
- Ex‑forces personnel (RAF, Royal Navy, British Army) and engineers from marine, rail, automotive, HGV, or bus sectors are encouraged to apply.
