Overview

Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our professional college community on full time, permanent basis.

In return, we offer a competitive salary of £32,228 - £33,191 per annum.

The Payroll Officer Role

As our Payroll Officer, you will support the Payroll Manager with end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring that all salaries, pensions, and deductions are processed accurately and on time, in line with HMRC requirements, pension regulations, and College policies.


Responsibilities

* Calculate and process three monthly payrolls for teaching and support staff (680 employees)
* Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and pension schemes, including Teachers' Pensions, the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), and NEST
* Reconcile payroll reports and maintain accurate, auditable payroll records
* Provide clear, timely, and informed payroll support to colleagues across the college (by email, telephone and face to face)
* Assist with Year End HMRC and Pension reconciliations and corresponding audits
* Collaborate effectively with People and Finance teams to deliver a seamless employee experience
* Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of payroll processes
* Undertake other duties within the scope and grade of the post


Qualifications

* As our Payroll Officer, you\'ll ideally have:
* Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numerical information
* Experience in full payroll administration (experience within education is advantageous)
* Excellent communication skills and a calm, solution focused approach
* The ability to work independently while being part of a supportive team

A retention incentive bonus up to £2,000, T&Cs apply:

* A one-off incentive bonus of up to £2,000 may be awarded upon successful completion of the probation period. The exact amount will be determined at the offer stage, based on the candidate\'s skills, experience and current salary.
* Eligibility and incentive level will be assessed in relation to the job specification and required skill set.
* Following successful completion of probation, candidates are required to remain in post for a minimum of 12 months. Early departure will result in full repayment of the incentive.
