R oles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
Employability keyworkers provide essential and invaluable support to help Aberdeen residents progress into work, training, volunteering or education through a range of person-centred activities. We're looking for people-focused employability professionals to join Aberdeen City Council's Employability Service, ABZWorks, to help our residents out of poverty and our city's economy flourish. This is a hybrid working role, with an expectation that at least three days will be in-person. Fixed term to 31 March 2026 with potential to extend subject to funding.
The purpose of the role is to support the effective delivery of employability initiatives within Aberdeen City Council and through a wide range of service providers. The role requires providing employability support to individuals on a 1:2:1 basis or in small groups, enabling them to access training and wider services, with the ultimate aim of them getting into work or an alternative positive destination. It also involves partnership working with other Council services and partner agencies.
Requirements
Experience of working in an employability environment
Adult Learning and/or Youth Work Experience
PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, or
willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made
