Deputy Director of Finance – Financial Planning and Performance
Salary: Executive and Senior Managers Grade E £96,982 to £124,871 per annum

We are now seeking an exceptional finance professional to join our senior executive team as Deputy Director of Finance – Financial Planning and Performance.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will lead on all aspects of organisational financial planning, financial performance, and internal and external financial reporting. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for ensuring that NHSGGC’s financial planning supports informed decision making, strategic transformation, and delivery of high-quality, sustainable services across the organisation.
You will have overall responsibility for:
1. Leading financial planning across NHSGGC, including The GGC Way Forward – Transforming Together programme.
2. Overseeing the Management Accounting and Performance functions, ensuring timely, accurate and insightful reporting to support operational and strategic decisions.
3. Managing the relationship with the six Integrated Joint Boards (IJBs), ensuring effective joint financial planning, monitoring and performance management.
4. Ensuring robust financial governance, control, and accountability across the Board.
5. Deputising for the Director of Finance in all delegated matters.
You will also contribute nationally to the development and delivery of the National Financial Framework, and play a key role in driving innovation, sustainability, and value across the health system.
About You
We are looking for an inspiring, values-driven leader with the professional credibility and personal resilience to influence and guide at the highest levels across a complex and evolving organisation.
You will bring:
6. A professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or CIMA) and extensive senior-level experience within a large, complex organisation – ideally within the NHS or wider public sector.
7. A proven track record in strategic financial planning, performance management, and transformation.
8. Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior clinical and non-clinical colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders.
9. The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery, ensuring strong governance and financial stewardship.
10. A passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with the ability to lead teams through change while maintaining focus on outcomes and quality.
