Purpose Of The Position
To lead the region by providing a strategic plan to ensure company growth aligned with the group's ambitions, along with managing the Profit & Loss responsibility for the region. The role will focus on sales revenue, volumes, and profit targets, with a strong emphasis on people development. The goal is to drive the business and team to be the No.1 solution provider, creating sustainable growth while maintaining effective relationships with all suppliers and customers.
Role Responsibilities
The duties are many and varied, but include:
1. Setting regional budgets and managing accounts in liaison with the FD and finance team.
2. Chairing regional sales meetings.
3. Developing, managing, and delivering the supplier, haulier, and customer strategies for the region.
4. Building and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers, hauliers, and customers through regular visits and communication.
5. Leading and developing the trading team to achieve and exceed sales targets, using KPIs for performance management.
6. Identifying new opportunities within the region and collaborating with the National Commercial Director for development.
7. Managing the regional sales techniques, understanding systems and processes, and assessing risks.
8. Training the regional team on effective and compliant selling techniques.
9. Overseeing regional transport operations, analyzing risks, and identifying process improvements.
10. Managing credit limits in coordination with Credit Control and the Head of Risk, including signing off credit notes/UHCs.
11. Setting KPIs and managing sales administration with support from central and regional teams.
12. Planning and implementing training and development for the regional team, including leading recruitment.
13. Managing resource planning to recruit, train, and develop personnel.
14. Contributing to business process improvements through best practices.
15. Collaborating with the fixed assets, major projects, and commercial teams to maximize opportunities.
16. Ensuring compliance with HR and Health & Safety legal duties to promote a safe and equitable workplace.
Knowledge, Training, and Qualifications
* Full UK Driving License (Essential).
* Willingness to work from various offices in the North, including Whitwood and Knutsford.
* At least 3 years in a management role with P&L responsibilities is preferred; however, attitude, character, and leadership potential are highly valued.
* Proven ability to identify and drive key success factors for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
* Strong leadership skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Hands-on leadership approach with financial acumen.
* Excellent negotiation skills across organizational levels.
* Effective time management and deadline adherence.
* Attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for customer service.
* Understanding of industry trends and best practices.
