Nova is a marine energy company that designs, builds and operates renewable energy projects. Nova has a world-leading track record in tidal energy and has recently expanded into floating solar, with a strong pipeline of projects across the UK, Europe and Africa.
The Accounts Assistant plays a key role within the finance function and will be responsible for the foundations of all financial reporting. We therefore require someone with strong initiative and excellent attention to detail, who can work accurately and efficiently while contributing to a fast-paced and evolving team. Procurement support may also be required as part of this role, so flexibility and a willingness to assist across functions is essential.
The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our finance and procurement functions. This is a varied role involving a broad range of financial and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be reliable, proactive, and comfortable working within a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
* Process and administer purchase orders
* Reconcile Budget actuals
* Review expense claims for accuracy and ensure correct approval
* Process and reconcile company credit card transactions
* Send remittance advices and check supplier statements
* Maintain the goods-in log
* Manage the finance mailbox and direct enquiries as appropriate
* Perform routine financial and clerical administration tasks
* Provide holiday cover for the Financial Accountant
* Assist the finance team during month-end, year-end, and grant audits
* Other tasks that are required by the business from time to time.

Qualifications
Essential
Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
* Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software or equivalent
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Solid understanding of financial processes, including purchase orders, expense claims, reconciliations, and credit card processing
* Ability to learn and adapt quickly to internal systems and procedures
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently using initiative
Desirable
* A relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or business administration (e.g. AAT, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
* Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
* Experience supporting procurement processes
* Familiarity with audit preparation or grant reporting
* Experience working in a dynamic, growing SME environment

* Competitive salary based on experience: FTE range £26,426 - £29,030 per annun.
