About the Role
ND Brown Ltd is seeking an experienced and driven Depot/Workshop Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our depot in Plean. This is a key leadership role overseeing our commercial vehicle hire operation and workshop, maintaining our predominantly HGV fleet to the highest possible standards while ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment.
You will manage a team of approximately 8 staff, coordinate workshop and mobile technician activity, liaise with customers, and ensure all vehicles are maintained, certified, and available to meet business and customer demands.

Key Responsibilities
Full responsibility for the operation of the Plean depot
Managing a commercial vehicle workshop maintaining ND Brown Ltd's own fleet
Must have HGV mechanical experience/qualification
Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, including: Annual services, Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), MOTs and Roller Brake Tests (RBTs)
Ensuring full compliance with DVSA, health & safety, and operator licence requirements
Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop and depot environment
Managing, motivating, and developing a team of approximately 8 employees
Organising and efficiently scheduling the workload of mobile technicians
Liaising with customers regarding: New hires, Off-hires, Routine maintenance bookings, Vehicle breakdowns and repairs
Overseeing vehicle availability to meet operational and customer requirements
Managing breakdowns and ensuring timely, effective resolution
Monitoring and improving depot processes, efficiency, and standards
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all staff
Implementing and maintaining robust health & safety procedures
Carrying out regular site inspections and audits
Ensuring all workshop equipment and facilities are safe and fit for purpose
Skills & Experience
Proven experience managing a commercial vehicle workshop or depot (HGV experience essential)
Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance compliance, DVSA standards, and operator licence requirements
Experience leading and managing teams
Excellent organisational and scheduling skills
Strong communication skills, both with staff and customers
Ability to remain calm and effective when dealing with breakdowns and time-critical issues
Hands-on, proactive approach with strong attention to detail
Desirable
CPC qualification or working knowledge of transport compliance
Knowledge of r2c Online fleet management software
Experience in vehicle hire or fleet operations
Familiarity with mobile technician management
