About Our Client
Our client is a UK local authority responsible for managing a diverse public land and property portfolio in support of community service delivery and strategic objectives.
Job Description
3. Manage the council's land and property portfolio, including leases, licences, rent reviews, debt monitoring and empty properties.
4. Lead on property acquisitions, disposals, valuations, compensation and rating matters.
5. Market, negotiate and complete property sales and leases, ensuring projects stay within budget and meet council targets.
6. Negotiate with statutory authorities and third parties on easements, wayleaves, licences and rights of way.
7. Provide professional advice, supervision and support to Valuers and Assistant Valuers.
8. Advise colleagues on property matters and ensure work meets professional standards, regulations and codes of practice.
9. Develop practical and innovative solutions to complex property and technical issues.
10. Represent the council, preparing and presenting clear reports on key issues and implications.
The Successful Applicant
Skills and experience required
11. Degree in estate management (or equivalent).
12. Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), General Practice.
13. Post‑qualification experience in a commercial property environment (local authority experience preferred).
14. Strong project management, negotiation and influencing skills.
15. Experience managing workloads, meeting deadlines and motivating staff.
Desirable
16. Registered Valuer status.
17. Strong understanding of local government property practices and procedures.
