Estimator - Groundworks, Demolition & Structures

Salary: £70,000 - £100,000 (CIS or PAYE)

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Subcontractor Estimator with a strong background in groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frames. This is a hands‑on estimating role working solely within the subcontractor sector—candidates with main contractor experience will not be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil engineering and structural projects, ensuring all bids reflect commercial and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for subcontractor packages.
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
* Conduct material and labour take‑offs for groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frame works.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
* Review and assess subcontractor pricing and proposals.
* Identify project risks, programme constraints, and value engineering opportunities.
* Support commercial teams with bid strategies and pre‑tender meetings.
* Maintain and update internal estimating records and cost databases.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience as a subcontractor estimator within groundworks, demolition, or structural packages.
* Strong knowledge of basements, RC frames, cut and carve, steel frames, and temporary works.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness.
* Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement and pricing.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
