As a fixed‑term role up to 2 years, the Energy Advisor will support the Environment Agency’s efforts to decarbonise the UK by providing expert support and technical leadership in the regulation of the energy sectors.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice, guidance and training to stakeholders across the energy sector.
* Develop strategy and deliver tools to support regulatory development and environmental outcomes.
* Commission and manage external research projects as required.
* Work closely with internal teams, external partners such as Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and other industry players.
* Respond to incidents and support business continuity during incidents.
* Lead technical work on the definition of regulatory standards, provide guidance, training and best practice to the sector.
Experience & Skills Required
* Strong ability to work effectively with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, encouraging consideration of diversity issues.
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge of energy processes, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries, and understanding of air emissions control measures.
* Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with operators, partner regulators, government bodies and trade associations.
* Demonstrated teamwork in achieving shared goals.
Contract Length
Up to 2 years fixed‑term contract.
