The Role
As a social worker in the Court Team, you will manage a varied caseload of children who are subject to care proceedings. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Managing a caseload of children where the local authority has initiated legal proceedings under the Public Law Outline (PLO).
* Completing high-quality, analytical, and evidence-based court reports, including Section 7, Section 37, and Annex B statements.
* Developing and presenting robust care plans and permanence plans to the court, ensuring a child's needs for stability are met without delay.
* Attending and giving evidence in court, including case management hearings, advocates' meetings, and final hearings.
* Working closely with legal teams, barristers, and Cafcass to progress cases through the court system efficiently and effectively.
* Liaising with families, foster carers, and other professionals to gather the necessary evidence for court reports and assessments.
* Working to strict legal and statutory timescales, ensuring all deadlines are met and court directions are followed.
About You
The council is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional with:
* A recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW) with current registration with Social Work England.
* Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social care, with direct experience of court work and care proceedings being essential.
