We are seeking a skilled and compassionate experienced Phlebotomistto join our Practice part-time, working 16-20 hours a week over 4 or 5 morningsa week.
The successful applicant will work closely with medicalprofessionals and the admin team to provide high-quality assistance within ageneral practice environment. The postis a permanent position on completion of successful six month probationaryperiod. Salary to be negotiated.
A driving licence is essential as you will be required towork across all 5 surgery sites.
Main duties of the job
Phlebotomists must providereassurance to patients. They must also look after the mental and physicalwellbeing of their patients. The primary duties and responsibilities of aPhlebotomist include:
Using technical equipment to safely draw bloodfrom patients
Explaining the process of drawing blood clearlyto a patient
Reassuring and calming patients who might benervous or scared of the procedure
Applying dressings to the wound created bydrawing blood
Registering the blood and storing it in thecorrect environment
Sending blood samples to testing laboratories
Keeping track of blood samples and results thatare returned after testing
Maintaining an organised and clean work areabased on health and safety regulations and infection control guidelines
Answering patient questions regarding collectiontechniques and offering additional resources on the collection process, if thepatient requests them
Attend and contribute to team meetings
Work in accordance with written protocols andpolicies
Deal with emails tasks and other forms ofcommunication

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education
* 5 GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
* Word Processing / Information technology
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
Experience
* Customer care experience
* Experience of working in a GP Practice
* Experience of SystmOne use
