We are seeking a qualified and experienced General Practitioner to join our friendly and busy team based in Blackpool.

Pay: £47.48 per hour plus adjustments for nights andweekends.£91,597.47 pro rata

**Golden hello £2500 offered paid in instalments over first 6mths prorata**

Hours:Minimumof 20 hrs/week (Full time is 37 hours)


Main duties of the job

Thepost holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professional andadministrative colleagues, working in one of the above locations in the Out ofHours service. The post will provide the assessment and treatment of patients,home visits and providing remote support/triage via CAS (the clinicalassessment service). You will provide consultations and appropriate clinicalmanagement of patients attending with injury and illness to services, eitherface to face or virtually. Aswell as broad clinical practice within supportive, dynamic teams, the postincludes regular dedicated time for Continuing Professional Development andstudy leave.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will uphold the following responsibilities:

1. The role will provide additional mentorship and supervision to support new and evolving roles in our clinical workforce and to clinical trainees of all professions.

2. The role will contribute to the Clinical Governance agenda within the specified location/Business Unit. There will be protected time within the clinical governance framework to allow for meetings and additional duties

3. The role will contribute to clinical innovation across the organisation, including development of the current UTC / OOH services in Fylde Coast and North Lancashire, in line with the NHS long term plan and UTC model

4. The role will contribute to clinical digital developments and integration across the organisation.

5. The role will play a pivotal part in developing partnerships with relevant stakeholder organisations ensuring effective care pathways.

6. The post holder will provide a leadership role as the named safeguarding champion for the Blackpool position

The post holder will:

* Provide, as part of a core team of salaried GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and other Clinicians, high quality clinical services to the populations we serve in line with local and national priorities.
* In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working in Out of Hours and/or Urgent Care.
* Keep contemporaneous, accurate and legible records of all patient contacts and contribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service.
* Contribute to evaluation/audit, Patient Safety Incident Investigations (PSII) and clinical standard setting within the service.
* Develop and encourage positive working relationships with local GP Practices, housing, social work, voluntary services, drug and alcohol, mental health, dental, secondary care and other appropriate services.
* Participate in organisational, operational and strategic planning where appropriate/required.
* Engage with continuing professional and personal development. Eight days study leave per year will be provided, pro rata, for CPD following discussion with the Organisational Medical Director during the appraisal process. All study leave must be approved by the post holders line manager.
* Participate in Significant Event analysis and Patient Safety Incident Investigations (PSII).
* Support the Management team and Clinical Nurse Manager(s) to ensure all service KPIs/targets are met, and look for improvement over and above the set commissioned targets
* Monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, and evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and providing skilled professional leadership
* Contribute to the Clinical Governance agenda within the service by leading audit and research as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the area of expertise
* Clinical Governance duties including attending clinical governance meetings, managing incidents, complaints and audit.

* Ensure full accreditation and requirements of practice to include full registration with GMC license to practice, membership of an appropriate defence body (if required) and delivery of annual evidence for appraisal or accreditation purposes in keeping with national requirements

Health and safety -The post holder will:

* Comply with safety policies, procedures and guidelines for self and others

* Report as soon as is practically possible any hazards or defects
* Report as soon as is practically possible accidents or untoward incidents and ensure appropriate incident reporting documentation is completed
* Be actively involved as an appropriate departmental representative and attend meetings relevant to the role
* Make effective use of training to maintain knowledge and skills

Physical effort and working conditions -The post holder will:

* Be responsible to ensure all aspects of the Manual Handling guidelines are followed, providing appropriate risk assessments
* Be responsible for managing clinical care following required Policies and Procedures pertaining to bodily fluids, infection control and COSHH regulations resulting in frequent exposure to highly unpleasant working conditions
* Be responsible for managing challenging situations and people, with some exposure to hazards, e.g., violent and abusive patients, child abuse, critically ill patients
* Manage own time effectively within variable shift patterns

Most challenging part of the role:

* Ability to work under pressure in an ever changing, challenging specialist environment whilst maintaining excellent standards of patient care
* Dealing with difficult situations and people by demonstrating and exercising critical thinking skills when faced with incomplete or lack of information or complexity.
* Manage patient and public expectations of the service within set national targets and time constraints
* Manage effective change and development within clinical areas, maintaining highly specialised knowledge and competences
