What is the job role?
Coventry’s SEND Information, Advice and Support Service provides access to impartial information and support, promoting the empowerment of children, young people and their parents in decisions around their special educational needs and disability, and developing effective partnership working across a range of organisations. We also provide support around exclusions from school.
You will be a key component in supporting service users across Coventry, enabling them to understand their options and helping to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND. This may be achieved through a wide range of ways, including providing telephone support, attending meetings, developing parent/child friendly resources or supporting training events.
All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You’ll need:
To achieve this, we’re looking for someone who has:
1. Strong communication skills, especially in active listening
2. Organisational skills to manage a complex caseload covering a wide range of issues
3. A thorough understanding of SEND processes and legislation
On top of these core skills, most importantly, you’ll have a positive and non-judgemental approach to your work to enable children and young people to work towards their aspirations.

The position is advertised as being full-time, but consideration will be made for requests for part-time working for the successful candidate.
