EYFS SEN Learning Support Assistant

We are currently seeking a caring and committed EYFS SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Colchester from September. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young children with additional needs at a vital stage in their development.
The Role
* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for children in EYFS with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social communication difficulties
* Support children’s learning, communication, and emotional regulation through play‑based and structured activities
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCPs and personalised support strategies
* Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that encourages confidence and independence
* Support children with routines, transitions, and engagement in learning
The Ideal Candidate
* Has experience supporting children with SEND in EYFS or early years
* Is patient, nurturing, and calm, with a strong understanding of child development
* Confident using play‑based and sensory approaches
* Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
* Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
