Overview
This post within NHSGGC’s Public Health Directorate offers an exciting opportunity to provide strong strategic leadership and management for our Public Health Intelligence function (including our teams of researchers, analysts and epidemiologists). The post holder acts as the public health lead co-ordinating the delivery of the Public Health Intelligence portfolio of work across NHSGGC working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary public health teams, academic public health staff, HSCPs, local authorities, voluntary sector and all other relevant partners, ensuring translation of national and local policy into a coherent local programme of activities including effective delivery and evaluation.
The post holder will also be expected to provide public health intelligence leadership and influence through professional networking at Health Board, regional and national level. They will lead in the development, implementation and evaluation of a strategic Public Health Intelligence plan and delivery framework in order to inform public, professional and political opinion on improving health and reducing inequalities and the action needed to achieve our corporate outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and management for the Public Health Intelligence function, coordinating delivery across NHSGGC and collaborating with multi-disciplinary public health teams, academic staff, HSCPs, local authorities and other partners to translate policy into a coherent local programme of activities with delivery and evaluation.
* Provide public health intelligence leadership and influence through professional networking at Health Board, regional and national levels.
* Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a strategic Public Health Intelligence plan and delivery framework to inform public, professional and political opinion on improving health and reducing inequalities, and on achieving corporate outcomes.
* Maximise opportunities for cross-functional working and shared approaches across the Directorate and wider organisation. Develop and deliver a complex and multifaceted programme of public health intelligence work to inform and influence action to reduce health inequalities and improve population health.
* Contribute to the evidence base for public health informing policy and practice across NHSGGC; develop surveys, data systems and analysis; collate, analyse and interpret data, evidence and other public health-related information from multiple sources.
* Prioritise, allocate and manage budgets and staff to ensure successful completion of programme activities within available resources and timescales.
* Ensure clear objectives and performance management arrangements are in place to meet organisational needs, with continuous improvement, planning and excellent people management applied.
Qualifications
* Experience of leading and motivating teams alongside technical expertise in public health intelligence or a related field.
