The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a proactive Quantity Surveyor to join an established commercial team, supporting the successful commercial management of highways maintenance and civil engineering projects.
The role will involve managing project financial performance from cost planning and forecasting through to final account, working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects remain commercially robust and contractually compliant.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control
Production of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
Assessment, pricing, and submission of quotations and compensation events
Pricing maintenance contract works
Ensuring scheme costs are accurately recorded within internal systems
Preparation and agreement of final accounts with timely and accurate billing
Subcontractor management including issuing orders, assessing applications for payment, and processing paymentsRisk Management
Early identification of financial and commercial risks
Supporting mitigation strategies related to claims, cost overruns, and scope changesCommunication & Collaboration
Liaison with operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
Attendance at internal and external meetings (both virtual and face‑to‑face)
Supporting efficient procurement through accurate cost data and strong supplier relationshipsAbout You
Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
Experience working under NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, ideally within framework environments
Proven background managing civil engineering, drainage, or highways maintenance contracts
Experience administering NEC Option C contracts
Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
Full, clean UK driving licenceSkills & Attributes
