Are you a higher education leaver or someone with good knowledge of AutoCAD, looking to embark on a career in the structural engineering sector? We are working with a large multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in the Cardiff area to fill an entry-level structural position. Full training will be provided, and all we require is an academic background in a relevant topic or working knowledge of AutoCAD.
This business delivers services across various sectors including technology, residential grand designs, healthcare, education, retail, and leisure. Projects are mainly based in South Wales, and their often award-winning designs focus on aesthetics, utilizing traditional materials. The consultancy aims to combine cutting-edge engineering practices with a variety of structures.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for accurate and reliable production of 2D technical drawings and/or 3D REVIT models from engineering sketches, mark-ups, or models.
* Delivery of structural steelwork drawings, reinforced concrete drawings, RC detailing, and schedules.
* Working closely with engineers to understand the structural design intent.
* Use of digital libraries of technical details to improve efficiency in producing detailed design drawings.
* Collaboration and discussion with engineers and senior technicians.
* Document control of both incoming and outgoing documents.
* Identify and meet client requirements and expectations effectively.
* Operate the company management and admin system, quality control, and document management in line with company policy.
* Work with consideration to the project programme and issue deliverables by the deadline.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Excellent presentation skills and attention to detail.
* An interest in modern methods of construction.
* Competent in using Microsoft Office software.
* Diligent and able to work as part of a team of engineers and technicians.
* Capable of producing simple hand sketches to convey ideas when required.
* Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Willing to gain an understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM), Health and Safety Regulations, Building Regulations, and Design Codes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Effective team worker, contributing to team and wider objectives.
* Comfortable communicating with professionals outside the company.
* Ability to organise and prioritise tasks to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
