Consultant in Obstetrics/Gynaecology (Special Interest in Gynaecology)
BarnsleyHospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a ConsultantObstetrician/Gynaecologist with a special interest in Gynaecology. An excitingopportunity has arisen to join a friendly and forward thinking obstetric andgynaecology team in a successful Trust in South Yorkshire. It is anticipatedthat the successful candidate, with the support of the new Gynaecology andMaternity Medicine Network, will help consolidate current services as well asdeveloping further services in line with the national maternity plan and SavingBabies Lives V3. The postholder will also have the opportunity to help takethe Gynaecology service forward. There will also be the opportunity to developa special interest if so desired.

Main duties of the job
1. Clinical Services
To provide with consultantcolleagues, an effectiveObstetrics and Gynaecology service to BarnsleyHospital, including:
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high quality Obstetric and Gynaecology service
Advising clinical colleagueson matterswithin his/her sphereof expertise
Liaising with otherhealth care organisations, SocialServices, General Practitioners and voluntary organisationsas required
Responsibility forkeeping services up to date and giving direction to futuredevelopments
Training and Education
To participate in the teachingand training programmes including:
Contributing topostgraduate and continuing medicaleducation activity
Undertaking medicalteaching examination andaccreditation duties asrequired
Contributing, to the trainingofnurses, midwives,paramedical, scientific and technical staff
Participatingin the formal appraisal of junior medical staff in accordance with guidelines from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Postgraduate Dean. A commitment to continued professional developmentaudit and personal appraisal.
Clinical Governance
To participate in developing a satisfactory and consistent quality of clinicalservices by establishing appropriate systems, agreeing standardsand ensuring standardsare met
Participatingin audit andensuring outcomes are implemented

Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC registration
* MRCOG or equivalent
* CCST or equivalent
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 12 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee
* Benign Gynae ATSM / or Gynae care SITM
Desirable
* Higher Degree
* Evidenceof research/publication
Experience
Essential
* Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCST
* Appropriate training in Special interest of choice
Teaching and Training Experience
Desirable
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff & Medical students
