About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Licensed Animal Technician to join a fast-paced and collaborative in vivo research environment within a leading biomedical setting. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a genuine commitment to animal welfare, supporting high-quality translational research programmes.
What You'll Be Doing
* Conduct regulated procedures in line with your Home Office Personal Licence (PIL A–B required)
* Carry out a variety of dosing and sampling techniques
* Perform blood and tissue collection in accordance with study protocols
* Support anaesthesia and peri-operative care, including monitoring and recovery
* Assist with or perform in vivo techniques, such as cell implantation (where licensed)
* Monitor animals post-procedure, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation
* Maintain full compliance with ASPA, Home Office regulations, and SOPs
* Uphold the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical practice
* Work closely with scientific, veterinary, and technical teams to achieve study goals
What We're Looking For
* Valid UK Home Office Personal Licence (PIL) with Categories A–B (essential)
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
* Category C licence or relevant hands-on experience (desirable)
* Practical experience in cell implantation and/or minor surgical techniques
* Strong understanding of ASPA regulations and animal welfare standards
* Excellent attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping and documentation
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team
