Position: Transport Operations Manager
Contract Type: Permanent – 40 hours

Shift: 5 out of 7 days (AM shift 6am-2pm)

What you’ll do:
The purpose of your role is to ensure the delivery of a safe, legally compliant and cost-efficient transport operation within a Hub environment. You will focus on following all recognised transport systems and processes and additionally identify and develop new systems and processes to meet the needs of the business. You will manage and develop a team of colleagues, maintain and develop external customer relationships and deliver a first-class service to our internal customers and external clients.
Key Role Responsibilities:
* Supporting the Transport Manager and Operations Managers to ensure the success of the overall 24-hour shift planning performance, compliance, client service levels, and health and safety.
* Leading and managing the Shift Managers to ensure optimised driving styles deliver best-in-class fuel consumption on our fleet using Isotrak vehicle telemetry and coaching and feedback of driver teams.
* Supporting the Transport Manager with all operational costs and performance reports and be able to demonstrate strong cost leadership.
* Supporting the Transport Manager to develop a peak plan in line with forecasted volumes and or changes in automation to meet financial and resourcing needs.
* Promoting and driving consistency to ensure the delivery of excellent operational standards.
* Carrying out regular individual 121’s, performance reviews and team meetings.
* H&S and quality audits including risk assessments and safe systems of work in all Transport areas.
* Preparing detailed shift reports, root causing failed KPI’s supported evidence and an action plan to improve.
* Developing a peak plan for your area of responsibility in line with forecasted volumes and or changes in automation to meet financial and resourcing needs.
* Promoting and driving consistency to ensure the delivery of excellent operational standards.
* Leading by example in creating a high-performance people orientated culture within.

What We’re Looking For:
* Extensive knowledge and experience of operational processes and practices, particularly Transport operations
* Motivational Leader, supporting staff to self-develop
* Proven ability to build business knowledge and translate into working practices and procedures
* Must be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment
* Must have strong analytical skills, be data driven and use data to influence, challenge and drive performance and compliance
* Be able to use internal systems, e.g. Isotrak, TMS and Tachomaster
* Strong analytical skills
* Experience of leading a high performing team
* Named CPC holder on Operators licence with CPC National qualification
* Good Maths and English skills written and verbal
* PC Literate
