As a Studio Researcher you will contribute ideas to inclusive content and representation on a daily basis, and be part of a fast‑moving, exciting team that is truly tuned into the nation’s conversation.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Studio researchers gather relevant information about guests and contributors for the programme and deliver precise, accurate briefs to the producer. Researchers work within a rotating day team—producer, assistant producer and researcher—to create all studio/OB content for the programme.

* Work effectively to ensure all content is thoroughly researched, meets the BBC’s editorial standards, and is fact‑checked using a variety of sources.
* Research content for the live show, including generating ideas for studio, OB and topical VTs.
* Conduct research with high‑profile guests.
* Communicate effectively with contributors and the production team to keep everyone fully informed of developments and requirements at every stage of production, and refer to more experienced members of the team when necessary.
* Sourcing and clearing material for broadcast and publishing.
* Organise and prioritise tasks, both in finding stories and managing research materials.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Experience working on live studio shows, preferably daily (e.g., It Takes Two, This Morning).
* Ability to work in a fast‑moving, topical environment.
* Understanding of archive and copyright material rights.
* Strong editorial understanding with creative ideas.
* Experience briefing high‑profile talent and contributors.
* Passion for factual and entertainment studio programmes and an in‑depth understanding of The One Show’s diverse audiences and editorial brief.
* Interest in popular culture and news.
* Experience preparing contributor biographies and briefs, drawing out new anecdotes and exclusive content.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
* Planning, organising and time‑management skills.
* Capacity to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
* Creative, problem‑solving approach in fast‑changing, challenging situations.
* Knowledge of editorial guidelines and awareness of BBC and statutory policies relevant to programme‑making, including diversity, equal opportunities and health‑and‑safety guidelines.
