Join the fundraising team at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) and support all aspects of fundraising—from individuals, bringing them closer to inspiring animals, conservation programmes, and communities.
The role
This role provides 5-star supporter care to the incredible people who support RZSS. The Fundraising Assistant will be the first point of contact for the RZSS Fundraising team, handling donor enquiries via email, phone, and in person; processing donations; thanking donors appropriately; and recording details on the database (Access Charity CRM). The role offers opportunities to learn about all areas of fundraising, including individual donors, patrons, corporate supporters, and grant funding.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience and knowledge in a varied role within a successful team. The post-holder will be supported to develop their skills and understanding.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the generation of sustainable income for Edinburgh Zoo, Highland Wildlife Park, and other conservation and education programmes.
* Helping the Fundraising team achieve annual targets.
* Supporting supporter stewardship, including sourcing content for newsletters, attending donor meetings and events, and devising creative ways to thank and engage supporters.
* Responding promptly to donor enquiries received through email, phone, post, and in person.
* Processing donations received online, by phone, post, and in person.
* Thanking donors appropriately and stewarding them in line with their donor journey.
* Entering donor information and correspondence into the Access Charity CRM database.
* Assisting the Senior Fundraising Officer with donor communications.
What we’re looking for:
* Educated to degree level or with relevant experience.
* Understanding of excellent customer/donor care, demonstrated through relevant qualifications or experience.
* Good written and spoken English skills.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
* Strong organisational and planning skills to prioritise a busy workload and adapt to changing priorities.
* A proven track record of delivering first-class service, including responding to queries efficiently.

* A starting salary between £23,868 and £24,378 per annum, with potential progression up to £24,888.
