About the Role

A Vacancy at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Are you considering taking your first step onto the nursing ladder? We are seeking Senior Healthcare Support Workers to work within our busy Emergency Department / UTC. You will be enthusiastic, driven and passionate about delivering outstanding care, with excellent communication skills and adaptability to meet the needs of this busy area. You will be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care to your patients in a busy and challenging unit.


Key Responsibilities

* You will be responsible for providing a range of personal care for patients and a range of clinical duties under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.
* You will work independently performing a number of clinical duties/tasks following training and meeting competency within the role as per policy and procedure.
* Assist patients with washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
* Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested.
* Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
* Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.
* Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.
* Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well‑being or any possible risks.
* Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, fluid checks as directed.
* Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
* Assist with the general cleaning and re‑stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients’ beds.
* Contribute to your own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.


Qualifications and Experience

Candidates are required to have an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care or the Care Certificate to be eligible to apply for this role. Original certificates for qualifications are required to be presented at interview stage.
