Description Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world Wood is currently looking for a Senior C&I Engineer with a strong background in Fire and Gas systems with experience in design and implementation, compliance and safety. There is a requirement for hybrid working with three days in one of our Hub offices. As this position is mainly to support an Aberdeen based project the preference would be to be based out of our Aberdeen office. However, we will also consider applications from Glasgow, Stockton or Staines. This is for a 12-month contract on a ltd co basis out with IR35. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. LI-Hybrid The Role We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer with proven experience in Fire & Gas (F&G) systems to support the delivery of critical engineering documentation and design coordination. In this role, you will be responsible for producing a comprehensive suite of F&G engineering deliverables, including IS/volt drop calculations, instrument datasheets, instrument index, I/O schedules, cause and effect diagrams, design specifications, bill of materials, material requisitions, and cable specifications. You will also oversee and approve the F&G design outputs produced by the C&I Design team, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with project standards. F&G Engineers work closely with process safety and automation teams to ensure seamless integration of fire and gas systems with other safety systems, contributing to the overall integrity and reliability of project designs Our Clients and Projects Designing the future. Visit our web page to find out more about the exciting work we do: Automation & systems integration | Wood Responsibilities The Key Objective of this role are: Development of fire and gas detection systems design tailored to gas plant specifications and industry standards Preparation of Design related documents (such as: F&G detector datasheets, Detailed Design Specification, Cause and Effects diagram, Functional diagram, F&G layout, Fire and Gas Philosophy, Instrument specification for package equipment, BOM, system architecture and operation narrative) Selection of suitable instrument for hazardous application Inter-discipline review of deliverables from other departments Complete Technical Bid evaluation and Produce Material requisition. Review Vendor Drawing and consolidate comments generated by other disciplines Attend and approve F&G detector and system integration FAT. Implement control systems for fire and gas detection, ensuring seamless integration with existing plant safety systems Ensure all fire and gas detection systems comply with relevant UK safety standards and regulations for gas plants Conduct safety audits and risk assessments specific to gas plant environments to identify potential hazards and improve system reliability Experience in projects related to the installation and upgrade of fire and gas detection systems in gas plants Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including technical safety, engineering, and operations, to ensure project success in gas plant settings Adherence to the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement Support the development and delivery of the technical safety standard expectations and technical assurance Participate in audits & incident investigations as required Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development Provide discipline support to the business Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports Qualifications What makes you remarkable?
