The role
will primarily support clients serviced by the Bury St Edmunds office, with a strong emphasis on agricultural sector clients.
About the Role
This is a hands-on managerial position where you'll oversee the preparation and review of accounts and tax returns, lead on management reporting, and support the setup of accounting systems. You'll manage multiple engagements, mentor junior staff, and play a key role in client relationships and business development activities.
About the Team
The Business Services team supports a diverse portfolio of SMEs across various sectors and structures, including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders. Services span bookkeeping, management accounts, year-end accounts, tax, and more. The team is known for its collaborative, friendly, and supportive culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review and oversee accounts and tax return preparation
2. Lead client engagements and ensure compliance
3. Mentor and develop junior team members
4. Drive business development and client relationship management
5. Support agricultural clients and contribute to sector growth
What We're Looking For
6. ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
7. Minimum 12 months post-qualification UK practice experience
8. Strong IT skills (MS Office, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage; CCH experience a plus)
9. Experience with both incorporated and unincorporated clients
10. Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
11. Willingness to develop expertise in the agricultural sector
12. Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
