Job Summary
You will work with a team of skilled Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers supporting the delivery and development of medicines optimisation to achieve high quality, cost‑effective and evidence‑based prescribing. You will promote the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines across KCHFT specialist services and help develop and maintain an excellent and progressive pharmacy service in line with legislation, the NHS long‑term plan and the needs of our patients.
You will be fully supported with your training and development and benefit from the wealth of training courses available to the Pharmacy team, including clinical, management and leadership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Make judgments on workload management.
* Participate in the audit process with specialist service sites, supporting governance of medicines processes, policies and learning from medicines incidents to improve patient care.
* Support the process of PGD production and approval, organise meetings, agendas and minutes, and ensure documents are distributed timely.
* Assist with the supply of medicines, reviewing stock lists, seeking efficiencies and contributing to cost improvements and efficient use of medicines, including safe and secure storage.
* Ensure compliance with prescribing guidelines, local formularies and legal frameworks.
* Act as a witness to controlled drug destructions.
* Support the Pharmacy Technician work for the Special Schools and ADHD service.
* Deliver training packages and medicines information to a range of staff in a multi‑agency arena across specialist services.
* Contribute to writing SOPs and policies relating to the area of practice.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Qualification in Medicines Management at Intermediate Level or equivalent.
* Practice Supervisors’ qualification or equivalent.
Experience (Essential)
* Experience and knowledge of pharmacy practice, including dispensing and working in a clinical environment.
* Commitment to mandatory continual professional development (CPD) in line with GPhC requirements.
* Practical experience managing medicines optimisation issues.
Experience (Desirable)
* Experience in education and training of healthcare professionals.
* Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience performing audits and participating in projects for service improvement.
* Experience working in hospital and/or community services settings.
Knowledge (Essential)
* Knowledge of using supporting technical equipment (phone system, smartphone/tablet, laptop).
* Knowledge of disposal of pharmaceutical products with regard to local policy, COSHH and Health and Safety guidelines.
* Knowledge of prescribing, ordering, supply, distribution and storage processes.
* Understanding of standard operating procedures.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate sensitive information in compliance with Information Governance and the Data Protection Act.
Knowledge (Desirable)
* Knowledge of the NHS current agenda and challenges.
* Knowledge of pharmacy and other IT systems.
* Knowledge of audit cycles.
Skills and Abilities (Essential)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of seniority.
* Computer literate in Microsoft Windows/Office with a high standard of presentation and accuracy.

* Experience extracting and presenting data from Excel, Datix, ePACT.
* Ability to deliver training sessions to groups of staff or customers.
* Skill in writing SOPs under guidance.
* Proven ability to liaise with and influence team members.

* Full, valid UK driving licence or a valid DUT from an EU country and independent travel capability.
* Commitment to meeting mobility requirements of the role where necessary.
