Lancashire Eye Centre would like to invite applications for the post of Speciality Doctor for an initial period of 12 months .
This is an exciting time to be an Ophthalmologist in our Trust and we offer training and experience in a full range of subspecialties for the right candidate including:
* Neuro ophthalmology
* Medical Retina
* Glaucoma
* Vitreo Retinal
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide direct clinical care in a range of subspecialties depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
Including:
1. Providing direct clinical care in an outpatient setting
2. Undertake laser sessions and macular injection sessions where appropriate
3. Undertaking supervised surgical procedures and providing surgical support in theatres.
The post holder will:
* Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multidisciplinary teams and co-ordinate care for patients within Preston and Chorley
* Assume continuous commitment for care of patients and ensure adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by maintenance of continuing professional development

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
* MBBS or equivalent
* Have at least 4 years’ full-time Postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least 2 of which will be in a Specialty Training programme or as a Fixed Term Specialty Trainee in Ophthalmology
Desirable criteria
* Hold a higher diploma e.g. MRCOphth, MRCSEd.
* Hold ALS certification.
* Have some training in teaching methods.
Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
* Have equivalent experience and competencies, in relation to qualifications
Desirable criteria
* Surgical experience, supervised or unsupervised
* Laser clinic experience
Personal
Essential criteria
* Effective communication skills.
* Good organisation skills.
* Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
Research and Development
