We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social and Emotional Learning Support Assistant to join our SEMH team in the Salford area. This vital role supports students—particularly those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs—in building the confidence, resilience, and skills they need to thrive both socially and academically.
â�° Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday
Location: Salford, Greater Manchester
What You’ll Need:
Experience working with children or young people, especially those with SEND or SEMH needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with pupils, staff, and families
A proactive, empathetic, and patient nature
The ability to provide two recent references (educational or work-based)
A genuine interest in supporting the mental well-being and development of young people
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted support to students with social and emotional needs
Implement engaging strategies and activities that promote emotional intelligence, regulation, and interpersonal skills
Support classroom teachers in creating inclusive and nurturing learning environments
Monitor and record student progress, adjusting approaches as needed
Liaise with parents, carers, and the wider pastoral team to ensure consistent support
Where needed, support with care routines and ensure a safe, supportive atmosphere for all pupils
