Job Title: Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical Bias)
Location: Aintree (first project), Ellesmere Port (second project)
Contract Type: Outside IR35
Duration: 6 months initially (likely extension through to end of 2026)
Rate: £40-£50 per hour
Working Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver commissioning activities on-site for large-scale mechanical systems within food & beverage environments.
* Apply mechanical expertise to troubleshoot, optimise, and validate equipment during commissioning.
* Ensure compliance with ATEX directives and hazardous area standards throughout commissioning.
* Commission and validate bulk material handling systems including conveyors and silos.
* Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
* Produce technical reports, commissioning records, and handover documentation.
* Provide practical, hands-on engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience as a Commissioning Engineer with a mechanical bias.
* Proven track record on large-scale/capital projects in the food & beverage industry (food processing/manufacturing strongly).
* Hands-on experience with ATEX projects and hazardous area commissioning.
* Strong knowledge of conveying systems, silos, and bulk material handling equipment.
* Ability to interpret and work from P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and technical documents.
* Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
* Ability to work fully onsite at client locations.
