We have a Proceedings Editor opportunity to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
As a Proceedings Editor, you'll play a central part in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of content published in our Conference Series journals. You will manage the flow of proceedings articles through the submissions workflow, make decisions on content, and work closely with conference organisers, authors and internal colleagues.
This is a varied and impactful role where your work directly contributes to maintaining trust in scientific publishing.
What you'll be doing
Content assessment & editorial decision making
* Managing the article decision-making process for Conference Series journals
* Assessing submissions to ensure they meet our publication criteria and ethical standards
* Screening volumes for completeness and integrity
* Ensuring peer review carried out by conference organisers meets IOPP policy
* Liaising with organisers to resolve issues such as missing material or policy concerns
Managing publication ethics
* Identifying, investigating and reporting ethical issues
* Communicating with organisers to resolve concerns
* Collaborating with our Research Integrity team
* Tracking and managing live ethics cases through to completion
Working collaboratively across teams
* Providing accurate information for smooth handover to our Production team
* Working with our Finance team to support timely invoicing and fee collection
Data management & continuous improvement
* Ensuring accurate, timely data entry and reporting
* Recommending improvements to workflows, systems and processes
Customer support
* Delivering excellent service to conference organisers, authors, societies and suppliers
About You
You'll be successful in this role if you bring strong editorial judgement, excellent organisational skills and a proactive, solutions focused approach.
We're looking for someone with:
Experience & knowledge
* Experience in publishing, working with content and authors (STM publishing preferred but not essential)
* Knowledge of publication ethics
* Familiarity with the research process and conference outputs
* Experience managing and reporting on data sets
* Degree level education (science preferred but not essential)
