CNC Setter Operator

Position Overview:
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Setter Operator to join a busy and forward-thinking engineering team. The ideal candidate will be confident working with minimal supervision, setting up CNC machines, adjusting tooling, and ensuring all parts meet spec. You'll play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Daily Duties Will Include:
1. Setting up CNC machines and selecting the appropriate tools for each job
2. Running multiple machines, including loading materials and monitoring production
3. Performing simulations and fine-tuning machine settings to improve cycle time and part quality
4. Changing datums and carrying out tool offsets when required
5. Highlighting setup issues and providing feedback on program efficiency
6. Identifying worn tooling and replacing when necessary
7. Carrying out first-off checks and final part inspections
8. Ensuring work orders are signed off once complete
9. Communicating progress and any delays with the wider team
10. Monitoring machine performance and making quality-focused adjustments
11. Troubleshooting to reduce downtime and maintain output
12. Helping with general maintenance and reporting faults
13. Reviewing and escalating issues with drawings or job instructions
14. Following health & safety procedures and promoting safe working practices
15. Supporting both internal and external audits, including resolving any non-conformances
16. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area
What We’re Looking For:
Technical Requirements:
1. Solid understanding of CNC milling techniques, tooling, and modern manufacturing processes
2. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with a strong attention to detail
3. Confident in inspecting parts and checking tolerances
4. Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018

3. Reliable, motivated, and keen to develop
4. Organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
5. Comfortable using standard IT systems and learning new ones
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a CNC setting/operating role
2. Completed time-served apprenticeship (preferred)
3. Relevant qualifications in manufacturing or engineering
4. First Aid certification is desirable
