Overview
Mechanic / Technician up to £45,000 OTE (opportunity to earn). We are a small, happy, independent motorhome / campervan workshop (started 2012) helping over 1,000 customers per year. We offer a heated, insulated, dry workshop with LED lighting, a friendly team and a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
* Mechanical service and repair to a high standard, including pre‑MOT and post‑MOT repairs.
* Cambelt replacement and mechanical diagnosis, repairs and installation; fault diagnosis and repair to systems and equipment as needed.
* Accessory installation (levelling, solar panels, bike racks, awnings, reverse cameras, TV aerials, motorhome towbars, lithium batteries) and related installations.
* Estimate time and parts required to complete repairs; follow instructions and use initiative to overcome complications.
* Record and report service items, faults and repairs using company systems; communicate with customers.
* Maintain good relations with customers and uphold company standards and image; provide telephone and face‑to‑face technical support as required.
* Attend workshops and training as required.
* Present yourself in a professional manner and represent the company when speaking to customers.
* Work to job times and deadlines; work independently when required and adapt to the company’s needs in how we deliver service.
The Role and Environment
* Role suited to Mobile Mechanic / Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic or Mechanical Fitter who wishes to transfer to a warm, dry, clean, well‑lit workshop with free tea & coffee; support for transition to the leisure vehicle sector if coming from another sector.
* Based in a workshop with a focus on high quality workmanship in motorhomes and campervans (LCV platforms such as Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay, Renault Trafic).
* Flexible hours; full‑time or part‑time with some seasonal variability.
Experience & Qualifications
* Preferably 3 years’ experience on the tools post qualification.
* Fully skilled technician with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, or equivalent; able to “hit the ground running”.
* Alternatively, candidates with 80% of the above and strong transferable experience from related sectors may be considered with training provided; lower rate of pay applies until fully skilled.
Requirements
* Full, current, clean UK driving licence; own hand tools.
* Fluent English with competent writing; ability to use company systems / mobile / PC to capture data, report and communicate.
* Excellent verbal communication; presentable, personable, and able to represent the company to customers.
* Reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to work both as part of a team or independently; flexible approach to work.
* Ability to work unsupervised, meet job times and deadlines; good problem‑solving skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.
Benefits & Hours
* Salary negotiable and highly competitive; current OTE up to £45,000/year (pro‑rata for part‑time 5 days/week).
* Bonus scheme; basic based on qualifications, experience and skill level.
* 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) pro‑rata, government pension, free branded uniform, free parking.
* Permanent role with immediate start date; hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 17:00 (winter hours Oct–Mar).
