Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our newly renovated three-bedded children's residential home in Rainham, Essex. Our home provides high-quality care and support for children aged 8–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be an integral part of a committed team delivering therapeutic, trauma-informed care. This is an exciting opportunity to join at the very beginning, helping to establish a warm, nurturing culture in a brand-new home, where children feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their potential.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Provide consistent care and emotional support to children with EBD
· Safeguard children and adhere to all child protection procedures
· Support children with daily routines, education, health needs, and activities
· Build therapeutic relationships using the PACE model: Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy
· Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and accurate daily records
· Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and training sessions
· Help maintain the home as a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
· Work collaboratively with the team and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for children
Required Skills & Experience
· Minimum 6 months to 1 year's experience supporting children with EBD in residential or similar settings (preferred)
· NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care – Children and Young People (essential)
· Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (essential)
· Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the PACE model (desirable)
· Proven ability to lead shifts, delegate tasks, and support colleagues
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Resilient, empathetic, and committed to positive outcomes for children
· Full UK driving licence (preferred)
