About Nu Quantum
Nu Quantum is on a mission to commercialise research generated over the last decade at the Cavendish Laboratory and to shape the future of quantum information systems. We’re working on exciting technology that will improve the utility and accelerate the time-to-market of quantum computing systems. We integrate novel quantum photonic technology to form an efficient and scalable quantum networking infrastructure in partnership with world-leading companies and academic groups.
The Role:
Nu Quantum is seeking a talented electronics engineer with strong analogue and RF skills to accelerate the development of our novel photonic quantum networking solution. You will be working with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to design and develop brand-new electronic systems that will manipulate quantum information at high speed. There will be opportunities for blue-sky thinking and creative design. If you have a background in analogue and high frequency electronics and are keen to apply your skills to novel scientific applications, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
* Specification of appropriate electronic components and equipment, including design of bespoke circuitry, to meet performance, time and cost constraints.
* Carrying out design calculations and simulations.
* Producing high-quality system diagrams, electronic schematics and PCB layouts.
* Organising the manufacture of prototype systems.
* Testing, debugging and improving complex electronic and optical setups.
* Analysis of experimental results.
* Providing input to project timelines and budgets.
Requirements
Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree-level qualification in electronics, physics or a related subject.
* A few years of experience designing analogue electronics at PCB level
* Understanding of high-frequency, microwave, and low-noise design techniques.
* Ability to apply knowledge to new and unfamiliar technologies
* Use of a wide range of test and measurement equipment
* Ability to modify and repair PCBs with small surface-mount components.
* High level of attention to detail to deliver designs that are right the first time.
Other (Desirable but not required)
* Design of electronics for high-performance scientific applications
* Experience with optoelectronic devices such as semiconductor lasers and photodetectors.
* Experience working as part of highly multi-disciplinary teams
* Use of electromagnetic field modelling software.
