This is an exciting career opportunity for a passionate Early Years Educator to lead the early years education provision within The Chelsea Nursery.
The Chelsea Nursery comprises of the Baby Room, for children aged 6 months to Rising 2s (OFSTED), Risings 3s and Rising 4s (ISI). The Chelsea Nursery is part of Cameron Vale School, with children attending the nursery having priority entry to the school. The nursery provision is open 51 weeks a year from 8am until 6pm. The Chelsea Nursery is located at Victoria House, 1A Gertrude Street, a short walk from Cameron Vale School.

JOB OVERVIEW
What is the purpose of the Job:
The role of the Head of Nursery is to lead The Chelsea Nursery (TCN) to be an outstanding and first-choice early years provision within the local area. To be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day running, staffing, management, health and safety, and safeguarding of the nursery and to deliver the highest standard of education and care.

●Responsibility, accountability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
●Drive pupil roll within the nursery setting to ensure all age groups and classes are oversubscribed.
●Manage the staffing to ensure all ratios are met within a rota system.
●Carry out staff supervisions and oversee professional development.
●Build and maintain excellent and effective relationships with current and prospective families
●Build high quality connections and relationships in the local area.
●Manage the budget effectively.
KEY TASKS
Education and Childcare
●Define and lead colleague team to create and deliver a high-quality educational nursery provision with both a nurturing, calm and creative nursery alongside high academic expectations
●Deliver engaging spaces with both outdoor and indoor play to foster curiosity, independence and confidence
●Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and, when necessary, follow Safeguarding Procedures
●Provide all children attending the Nursery with rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development, both adult and child led
●Promote high standards of quality within the Nursery in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children, linked to the overall ethos of the school
●Ensure that practice and provision in the Nursery exceeds the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
●Plan and deliver timetable and provision of wide range of age appropriate activities
●Promote and facilitate positive partnerships with parents/carers and other family members
●Support the development of outstanding and improving practice with regards to special needs and inclusion
●Support pre-school staff in delivering the Foundation Stage; ensure that provision in the Nursery meets the requirements of the local LA in relation to nursery education grant funding for three- and four-year olds
●Coordinate range of trips and visits to enrich curriculum, using London as your classroom
●Establish, develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority Departments, regulatory bodies, local nursery schools, local businesses and other agencies
●Create and maintain a culture of high expectations, self-evaluation, reflective practice and continuous improvement throughout the Nursery
●Take part in whole school activities and share same culture in preparation for a smooth transition to school
Health and Safety
●Manage and be responsible for, the day-to-day operation in order to ensure the health and safety of the children, their parents and carers, the team and any visitors to the Nursery
●Adhere to all health and safety policy and procedures
●Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures
●Be responsible for ensuring the Nursery remains compliant in respect of suitably trained staff with relevant first aid qualifications
●Be responsible for ensuring that all staff receive necessary Health and Safety training
Finance/Administration
●Manage staff/pupil ratios and timetables
●Maintain accurate session and staffing records and accounts for the Nursery and produce management information as required.
●Understand and utilise management systems and information to maximise efficiency
●Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations
●Ensure accurate reporting in respect of session numbers, quality and standards
●Weekly meeting with the leadership team
●Ensure all pupil records are up to date and complete
Staff
●Lead and manage team meetings, supervision meetings and training
●Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
●Induct, support, train and appraise all Nursery staff to ensure delivery of outstanding quality childcare practice and continuous improvement
●Develop a well-qualified and experienced team able to meet and exceed all relevant standards
●Identify training needs; develop training plans and evaluate and cascade training undertaken by staff
●Work in conjunction with Deputy Head and Headteacher in disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings
Marketing and Recruitment
●Promote the Nursery to current parents and potential families with tours, events and positive word of mouth
●Ensure all staff develop and maintain friendly and professional relationships with parents and carers, leading liaison and managing all aspects of communication
●Proactively represent The Chelsea Nursery and Cameron Vale School and advance its interests in the local community
●Be responsible for ensuring that all complaints and concerns are actively resolved in a timely manner and that these are reported to the Headteacher
●Organise and lead parents’ evenings, daily contact, home-school liaison and ‘welcome’ meetings
●Prepare and send out a weekly newsletter for all parents
General
●Responsible for all administrative duties associated with the Nursery, such as maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventories and keeping all regulatory records
●Adhere to all school policies and procedures
●Undertake any duties as reasonably requested by line management

Salary: dependent on experience
Working Hours: 40-hours per week on rota basis.
Qualifications and Experience: minimum three years’ experience in an Early Years setting and one years’ leadership experience. Must hold an approved qualification of Level 3 or above and a suitable level 2 qualification in maths.
