Overview
Texas Oncology is seeking a Senior Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Beaumont, Texas location. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

What does the Medical Assistant do?
Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promotes efficient patient flow, and performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining schedules. Adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including ethics and business standards.
Responsibilities
* Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
* Record vital signs, allergies, medication changes, and other patient data prior to physician visits.
* Obtain and verify patient records and consents before treatments or procedures.
* Prepare exam rooms and stock supplies.
* Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
* Support patient education by distributing literature.
* Obtain blood specimens following OSHA and universal precautions.
* Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including hormones and biological growth factors.
* Maintain disinfection protocols and process instruments.
* Answer patient calls, schedule tests, procedures, and follow-ups.
* Assist with pre-authorizations and inform physicians of reschedules or no-shows.
* Obtain previous test results and imaging.
* Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and reception tasks.
* Maintain indigent and sample drug programs as assigned.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
* Minimum of five years' experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a clinical setting.
* Phlebotomy experience preferred.
* Current BLS certification required.
* Compliance with state-specific certification requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires full body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, standing, walking, occasional lifting up to 40 lbs, and normal vision and hearing. The environment includes exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and other hazards typical of an oncology/hematology clinic.
