About Our Opportunity

Join EMR as a UK Operations Mobile Plant Manager, based in Salford. Reporting to the Head of Site Services and working closely with the Ports Mobile Plant Manager, this vital role is part of the Site Services Management Team. It is a unique opportunity to lead the development and delivery of EMR’s Mobile Plant strategy across our UK operations, ensuring industry-leading maintenance and operational standards are upheld.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will take full responsibility for managing the maintenance and operational efficiency of Mobile Plant equipment across EMR’s UK sites. Leading a team of skilled mobile fitters, you will ensure both planned and reactive maintenance is executed effectively to maximise plant availability. You will oversee the delivery of strategic projects, ensuring they are completed safely, cost-effectively, and within agreed timelines, all while aligning with EMR’s business objectives.

A significant part of your role will involve implementing and maintaining maintenance strategies and systems, such as CMMS, to ensure operational excellence. You will conduct site audits to verify compliance, lead recruitment and development initiatives for Mobile Plant fitters, and provide expert support for diagnosing complex mechanical issues. In addition, you will ensure all statutory maintenance is completed to the highest standards and oversee warranty claims, repairs, and servicing to maintain cost efficiency.

This position will also see you act as the subject matter expert for equipment across the organisation. You will play a key role in ensuring SHEQ standards are met within your team and continually work to improve processes, including those related to minimising plant downtime and enhancing overall efficiency.

* Lead a team of skilled mobile fitters to deliver effective planned and reactive maintenance
* Oversee strategic project delivery, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to timelines
* Implement and maintain maintenance strategies and systems, including CMMS
* Provide expert support for diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues

* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and enhance efficiency

About You

We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in a managerial role within industries such as plant hire, contracting, aggregates, or recycling. Strong technical knowledge of Mobile Plant is essential, alongside experience in developing and executing maintenance plans. Familiarity with CMMS systems and statutory maintenance requirements is critical for success in this role.

To excel, you will possess excellent communication, organisational, and team-working abilities.

A full UK driving licence is required, along with a willingness to travel extensively across the UK, which will include overnight stays. You will be detail-conscious and numerate, with a focus on problem-solving and a creative mindset for implementing innovative solutions. Additionally, a commercially driven approach, combined with a determination to enhance profitability and operational efficiency, will be highly valued.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and hands-on, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally. You should enjoy working collaboratively, tackling complex challenges, and encouraging critical thinking within your team. A proactive and practical approach, along with a focus on continuous improvement, will be key to your success in this role.
