About the role
The job holder will ensure the smooth management of the warehouse operation, with responsibility for the delivery of cost, service, compliance, people KPIs – in line with company and legal standards and requirements.
Responsibility for the warehouse night shift with a support and deputy role for Warehouse Logistics Manager as required.
Key Duties
* Manage labour resources effectively to meet operational demand
* Ensure inbound goods are received accurately and to quality standards
* Work closely with stock teams to investigate variances and implement corrective action
* Deliver productivity and quality targets within agreed cost parameters
* Deliver daily, weekly and monthly operational plans
* Communicate proactively with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders
* Ensure the warehouse is fully operational, compliant and ready for shift handovers
* Support monthly reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
* Review warehouse layout and ways of working to optimise efficiency
* Ensure full compliance with company, customer and legal standards
* Complete warehouse and H&S audits through to corrective action sign‑off
* Maintain high housekeeping standards and proactively manage workplace risks
* Line manage, coach and develop team members
* Manage performance, conduct investigations and address people issues effectively
* Identify and support training needs, including mandatory compliance training
* Lead accident and incident investigations and communicate learnings
* Lead in line with company values and management principles
* Create a positive, safe and productive working environment
* Take ownership of challenges and implement practical solutions
* Drive change, innovation and continuous improvement across the operation
About you
* Proven management experience within FMCG, logistics or a similar operational environment
* Strong track record of leading, developing and motivating teams
* Strong people management skills (performance, engagement, ER issues)
* KPI-driven with the ability to manage targets and solve problems
* Highly organised, detail-focused and able to work under pressure
* Passionate about quality, service and Health & Safety
* Confident communicator at all levels
* Flexible to working patterns as required by the operation
* Knowledge of warehouse systems, cost control and Health & Safety
* IOSH Managing Safely – desirable
* Reach and Counterbalance MHE licence – desirable
* Proficient in MS Office – essential
