Role Overview

In this pivotal Mid-Senior Android/Kotlin Developer role, you'll work closely with our Lead Mobile Engineer and report to the CTO. You'll be instrumental in building our next-generation Android mobile experience working in a collaborative environment where your contributions are visible and highly impactful.
What You'll Do
* Design, develop, and maintain sleek Android applications using Kotlin.
* Integrate seamlessly with RESTful APIs and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Heroku).
* Drive app performance, debug issues, and ensure top-tier mobile experiences.
* Build robust code with strong unit and integration test coverage, embracing TDD.
* Collaborate with product, UX, backend, QA, and cloud teams to deliver polished features.
* Participate in code reviews and discussions on architecture and design.
* Mentor junior developers and advocate for engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in Android development using Kotlin (Java is a boon).
* Strong understanding of Android SDK, app lifecycle, and modern architectures (e.g., MVVM).
* Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and cloud-based backend integrations.
* Skilled in writing tests and applying TDD for high-quality, maintainable code.
* Comfortable with version control (particularly Git) and collaborative workflows.
* Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with a team-oriented mindset.
* A passion for programming craftsmanship and delivering excellence.
4. Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
* Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) app development experience.
* Backend knowledge, ideally with Python/Django.
* Exposure to regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, automotive).
* Familiarity with Jira, CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI.
* Experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, or modern Android tooling.

Reporting Structure
You will directly report to the CTO and work alongside the Lead Mobile Engineer. While there's no direct managerial responsibility, you'll offer guidance and mentorship to more junior team members.
