Qualified Children\u2019s Social Worker - Part Time

Overview
We are hiring Children’s Social Workers for our Public Law team on a part time basis, 4 days a week. The Public Law teams handle cases where the local authority has serious concerns about a child’s safety or welfare, and Cafcass may become involved in the case. The Cafcass Social Worker, often referred to as Children’s Guardian, is typically involved with the child across an extended period, carrying out assessments to understand their needs and wishes and communicating this to the court through reports and giving evidence.
Responsibilities
* Conduct assessments and directly engaging with children to understand and represent their views and wishes to the court.
* Use robust risk assessment and mediation to advocate for arrangements that prioritise the best interests of the children.
Requirements / Experience
* You must be registered with Social Work England (Cafcass reimburses costs of this annual cost)
* Demonstrable, relevant experience of working with children and families in a social work setting
* Experience in Family Court proceedings and understanding of Private and/or Public Law would be an advantage
* Organised and resilient with the ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Location
Roles may have a contractual base in Portsmouth, but teams work flexibly and remotely. Proximity to the office is not a critical consideration, enabling you to work in a way that suits you.
