Responsibilities
* Washing all cookware, utensils, cutlery, etc. in a timely manner and ensuring items are clean and ready for the next shift.
* Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and sanitisation in all kitchen work spaces, floors, shelving, and countertops.
* Keeping food storage areas, fridges and dry stores clean and organised, following HACCP guidelines and a regular cleaning schedule.
* Using dishwashing machinery and cleaning chemicals correctly and in line with training.
* Food preparation including chopping vegetables or helping chefs set up the kitchen for the following day.
* Wearing appropriate clothing/footwear and adhering to high standards of personal hygiene.
Competencies
* Cleanliness/Organisation: adhere to high standards of cleanliness in all areas and use correct storage methods.
* Timekeeping: follow absence policies and obtain pre-approval for holidays; notify a direct supervisor as required.
* Teamwork: work as part of the kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
* Flexibility: roster changes and covering short-staffed areas as needed, with advance notice where possible.
