MDR Consultancy is delighted to be partnering exclusively with Styne Group to recruit an experienced Steelwork Estimator. This is a newly created role, designed to strengthen their team as the business continues to grow and secure major projects.
Why Join Styne Group?
Styne Group is a respected, forward-thinking company with a strong reputation for delivering complex structural and architectural steelwork projects across the UK. With a solid pipeline of large-scale contracts and a culture built on collaboration and trust, this is your chance to play a key role in a thriving business where your technical expertise really counts.
You’ll be part of a close-knit team that values precision, problem-solving and open communication. It’s a place where decisions are made quickly, good ideas are welcomed, and your input can make a genuine impact on the business and its projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Steelwork Estimator, you’ll take ownership of producing accurate, competitive estimates for a variety of bespoke steelwork projects – from staircases and balustrades to portal frames and full structural frameworks. Working closely with senior leaders and engineering colleagues, you’ll ensure tenders are priced correctly, risks are identified, and value-engineered solutions are offered where possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
Analysing tender documents, drawings and client specifications.
Preparing detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour and subcontractor elements.
Quantifying steel, fasteners and associated materials with accuracy.
Liaising with architects, main contractors and suppliers to clarify requirements.
Highlighting risks, constraints and opportunities in tender documents and advising on mitigation strategies. This is an office-based role in Diss, with occasional travel for client meetings or site visits.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a skilled estimator with a proven track record in structural or architectural steelwork. You’ll combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness and the ability to deliver precise estimates under pressure.
To succeed, you’ll need:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a steelwork estimating role.
Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes, erection techniques and industry standards (e.g. BS EN 1090, UKCA/CE marking).
Proficiency in interpreting complex structural and architectural drawings.
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with data.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines. What’s on Offer
Salary up to £45,000 (DOE).
25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Company pension and life assurance.
Free on-site parking.
A positive, collaborative team environment where your skills are valued. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a new role within a growing company, working on technically challenging and varied projects. Start date to align with your notice period.
