Overview
Global Warehouse Manager – Wotton, Surrey. Own transport is required due to the site’s rural location. Azenta Life Sciences specialises in the design and manufacture of high quality consumables and sealing solutions for molecular biology. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient management and control of warehouse operations, ensuring agreed budgetary targets and service levels are consistently achieved. The role provides an effective, reliable, and compliant service to internal and external customers, meeting all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including responsibility for trade compliance. The Warehouse Manager is accountable for the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, goods, and products to support business operations and customer demand. Based in Wotton, this role also provides operational oversight and support to three additional global warehouse locations across the United States, Europe, and Japan, ensuring consistent standards, processes, and performance across the global warehouse network.
Responsibilities
* Become the lead representative for the warehouse for the transition to the new Oracle MRP/ERP System
* Oversee warehouse operations across global sites, ensuring goods are received, stored, picked, packed, and shipped in line with approved procedures
* Ensure an efficient warehouse operation which can fulfil operational and customer demand
* Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are always understood and practiced by the team
* Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods
* Drive a zero-tolerance mindset for deviation from the use of quality processes to ensure customer deliverables are met fully
* Monitor and ensure accuracy of all inventory transactions and maintain records of all stockroom locations
* Plan future capacity requirements
* Manage warehouse capacity planning, inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock optimisation
* Ensure the relevance and accuracy of all documentation relating to goods in and goods out including labeling of all stock items
* Identify any systems improvements and drive through recommendations for change
* Support teams with resolving customs queries, holds, and clearance issues as they arise
* Ensure efficient and effective use of warehouse space to include layout and future capacity requirements
* Develop and maintain metrics/KPIs, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and training and safety records
* Create policies and procedures for warehouse activities and ensure all systems meet the standards for accreditation in line with the quality systems
* Continuously review ways to aid efficiency, add value and reduce costs as well as delivering continuous improvement initiatives
* Create and implement best practice warehousing principles, policies and processes
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain, are desirable
* Strong hands-on experience in warehouse operations and trade compliance
* Experience in a warehouse manager role essential
* Trade compliance or customs qualifications are desirable
* Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures
* ERP System knowledge, ideally Oracle
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Able to work with all levels of staff
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities
* Proven Supervisory / Management skills, and an ability to demonstrate effective leadership
* Quality, Health and Safety skills
* Training, organizing and planning skills
* Trade compliance or customs qualifications are desirable
